Our Story

While working on my VTOL I had several crashes due to many reasons. Many times I watched them helplessly falling down from the sky and crashing to the ground and break into pieces. Each time crash was due to different reasons.Sometime the VTOL gets very unstable in quad mode and go into oscillating effect before plunging to the ground. Go to the crash site and collect all the scattered pieces return to home with shame.  Some time one of the ESC of VTOL motor fried. Each time there is a crash I lost Lakhs of rupees.

After this i realized I need to to do something about this and started to search for one. I searched and googled but could not find any one selling in India. I was surprised. Then I found one website called fruity chutes in USA. I looked at one 3kg parachute at it costed $350 and by the time it comes to my hand I am sure it will cost more than $700 which is like 60,000/- Rupees. Oh my God. This is too much.

Then decided to build one parachute. My search began. I googled for any parachute supplier in India. I could not find any. Then decided the best umbrella cloth I can purchase. After studying the characteristics of parachute I made one from what every best material i could find. Then I learnt science behind parachute Aero dynamics and material strength. I need to laser cut the cloth and got it stitched.

Tested this parachute on a fixed wing plane and multi copter. It did work all the time GSM of this fabric was like 150GSM. Folding it was okay but size after folding was not so small. This time I have already tested many size of parachutes. Parachutes works well and all the time. I learnt how to fold parachute as parachute should open in a second or two. I have tested parachutes on multi copter and fixed wing piston engine planes. All works perfectly.

My suggestion multi copter needs some king of parachute deployment system to push parachute away from the multi-rotor. For fixed wing you can use sprint powered deployment system or just keep a bay to drop parachute. Due to gravitational force parachute opens and gets deployed in seconds.Now there are two ways to operate it. One is manually triggering and another is automatic deployment. Manually is quite simple to operate.

Just plug the servo cable to not used channel in the receiver. If you are using flight controller you can plug the servo cable to output channel 7. 1 to 6 is used by multicopter ESC. We will use input port 7. In mission planner you need to update settings in servo output as RC7 means bypass. This way parachute will
work armed or even unarmed. Will show some videos of these soon. Happy and safe flying...
